The Minifox: A re-invention of the minimalist microlight movement.
Conceived at the EuroflyULM factory in Vicenza, Italy. The Minifox offers a true sensation of flying, with almost unrestricted visibility and that essential wind-in-the-face experience.
Light, but very effective, controls make this machine a delight to fly even in turbulence. The recommended Bull Max 33Hp engine from Cisco Motors provides sprightly take-off performance, and the low stall speed allows safe operation from tiny airstrips.
Designed originally for the German UL120kg microlight regulations, the Minifox has been fully load tested and is based on the proven Firefox two-seat aircraft. The light weight airframe coupled with a 230kg MTOW allows a healthy payload of over 115kg (dependent on options). The Minifox also comfortably sits within the UK Single-Seat DeRegulated microlight category, dispensing with the legal requirement for annual permit to fly renewals. Ready-built or kit
The Minifox is available either as a comprehensive quick-build kit requiring around 50hrs to complete the airframe, or as a ready-built aircraft. The kit requires no specialist skills. A full build manual and technical support is provided by us (in English!). If you would prefer not to build your Minifox then we will complete the kit for you for a small fee. We can even install your own custom instrument pack and handle the CAA registration and initial testflight for you if you so wish!
The wing is covered in UV-resistant Polyant PX5 trilaminate sailcloth which is semi-translucent. The wing highlight colours are available in Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Fluorescent Yellow & Orange. The frame comes with a grey powdercoat as standard. Different patterns and colours are available to special order.
We highly recommend the Cisco Bull Max engine as this couples lightweight performance with the latest 2-stroke technology for long-term reliability. This 33Hp engine provides ample power and is available with an electric start option in addition to the effective recoil starter. The Cisco range is supported in the UK by Skydrive, who have a huge amount of experience supplying microlight engines and carry a large stock of spares as well as providing a UK warranty. The Bull Max is ideally suited to a wooden propellor supplied by Cisco, as this produces the maximum thrust and a nice smooth sound. Alternatively, the Helix carbon-fibre prop option is more hard-wearing.
The Minifox is available with an optional fibreglass nosecone in Black, Blue or Red (with a matching colour choice of seat material). A lexan screen reduces airflow around the pilot’s legs without sacrificing the wind-in-the-face feel of open-cockpit flying, and the included instrument panel allows ample room for your own custom instrument suite.
The Minifox uses lightweight puncture-proof foam-core tyres as standard, which are ideal for most surfaces and minimise drag. Alternatively, pneumatic tyres are available for a more traditional appearance.
New for 2019 we have a tundra balloon tyre option available. These suffer a weight penalty of around 6kg compared with the standard tyre layout, but could prove useful if your flying site suffers from heavy waterlogging.
Whichever undercarriage you choose, effective drum brakes are fitted to both mainwheels. These are operated by a stick-mounted lever complete with parking brake.
Another popular option is the New Closing Wing System (NCWS) folding wings. Although the wings are easily removable by a single person as standard, the NCWS provides bracketry to ensure easy alignment of the wing attachment points. Furthermore, the standard wing attachment bolts are replaced with quick-release pip-pins (fully specified for flight loads) to allow incredibly quick rigging times. When folded, the wings simply rest on the tailplane in the wing supports provided. This means that the widest point of the aircraft is only 2.3m, allowing storage in very small spaces and even shipping containers.
